Abiding implies constancy. It is an intriguing concept. How does abiding in Christ happen? By realizing first that we need Jesus as our Savior. And then by realizing that this is possible through abiding in Him. He speaks to our spirit and shows us the answers we need. When we acknowledge our need for Him, we move toward Him, we ask for His help, we give Him the worship due Him for His majesty and holiness. We thank Him for His grace and mercy and we stay near Him to learn His ways and develop a character like His. We move toward Jesus, understanding that all the time He pursues us first, more perfectly and faithfully. When we are totally abiding in Jesus, He overflows from us. As we take Him in, He pours Himself out. It is through this input and output of abiding in Jesus that people can recognize that we have been with Jesus as His spirit shows in our countenance. There is no other relationship more important. When we abide in Him our love for others is deeper just as our sacrifices for others become more joyful. When we abide in Christ we are changed, molded into persons like Himself and we are able to have an eternal impact on countless others. ~Acts 4:13
