Psalm 119 starts with obedience. We are to “walk according to the law of the Lord. Keep His statutes and do no wrong.” The Scripture has some “red lights” that should control our lives as Christians. They are prohibitions against, envy, pride, hatred, irreverence, lust, selfishness, and other vices. When the Holy Spirit alerts us to their presence, we should immediately hit the brakes. Likewise, we must quickly respond to obeying the green signals of kindness, humility, love, worship, purity, etc. God’s stops and starts are designed to help us. We should be as fearful of ignoring a command of Scripture as we are of running a red light! — Psalm 119:5
