The preoccupation with happiness and contentment is an ever present theme in our modern world. We are bombarded with messages that tell us where to find peace and pleasure in a world that worships materialism and wealth. But lasting contentment is not found in material possessions. Genuine contentment is a spiritual gift from God to those who trust in Him and follow His commandments. When God dwells at the center of our lives, peace, and contentment will belong to us just as surely as we belong to God. If we could just hang in there, being faithful to our own tasks, God will make us joyful and content.The responsibility is ours, but the power is His. God is our contentment and peace. We find protection when we seek His healing hand. We discover joy when we welcome His healing spirit. Let us claim the peace and contentment that God offered to us through the gift of His Son this day and for ever. — 1 Timothy 6:6-8
