When It is Hard to Pray

The Bible tells us that God knows our every thoughts and every word on our tongues. And when we do not know what to pray for, the Holy Spirit “intercedes for us through wordless groans" (Romans 8:26). These Biblical truths assure us that we can have communication with God, without a word being spoken, because He knows the intentions and desires of our hearts. What a comfort when we are perplexed or in deep distress! We do not have to worry if we cannot find the words to express our thoughts and feelings. We do not have to feel embarrassed if sometimes our sentences break off half finished. God knows what we are going to say. We do not have to feel guilty if our thoughts wonder. We do not have to worry about a proper posture in praying, God cares about the posture of our hearts. What a wonderful God! No matter how much we falter and stumble in our praying, He hears us. His heart of infinite love responds to the needs and emotions of our own inarticulate hearts. So let us keep on praying! — Romans 8:26-27; Psalm 139:4
