God’s Word reminds us again and again that our Creator expects us to lead disciplined lives. God does not reward laziness, misbehavior, or apathy. On the contrary, He expects us to behave with dignity and discipline. We live in a world that glorifies leisure and glamorizes indifference. But, God did not create us for lives of mediocrity. He made us for far greater things. Life’s most significant rewards seldom fall into our laps. On the contrary, our most significant accomplishments usually require lots of work. After all, God knows that we are up to the task, and He has big plans for us. May we, as disciplined believers, always be worthy of those plans. Real freedom means to welcome the responsibility it brings, accept the God-control it requires, receive the discipline that results, and welcome the maturity it creates. God expects us to be diligent and disciplined. Jesus said that the fields are ripe, but the workers are few. Father, lead us to your fields and make us disciplined workers in the service of Your Son. Amen. — Romans 12:11.
