In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus set forth some of the most profound truths ever spoken. Jesus explained the kind of life that is pleasing to the Father. Jesus said a man who takes the Words of God and applies them to his life is like a person who builds his house on a rock. Building on a rock seems laborious and tedious. On the other hand, a house built on sand seems more manageable. However, building on sand leaves the builder vulnerable while the one on the rock is more secure. How can we tell what kind of foundation our life is made from? A life built on the Word of God will withstand the very storms that sweep away a life that does not heed God’s Words. There are no shortcuts to spiritual maturity. Spiritual maturity comes only through God’s Words and obedience to His commandments. — Matthew 7:24
