Let us look at some patience strengthening principles:
In 2 Samuel 16:5-14, we read about King David's encounter with a critic. Unlike David's response to ignore his detractor, we often want to silence our critics by going on the defensive. As a result, we are often impatient to discuss the issues. However, we should take such matters to God in prayer and wait for His guidance. It is better to look beyond those who oppose us and instead focus on love and reconciliation.
At times, people may disagree with us concerning God's word. In such circumstances, we should be patient. If we know the truth of God, we should not allow those who do not accept God's truth to frustrate us. Instead, let us refer them back to the Bible and offer to continue the discussion later.
This pause period will lower the tempo that builds impatience and causes conflict. Remember, we gain no honor in simply winning a dispute when the goal is to win more souls for Christ with the sincere Good News message of the Bible.
When waiting patiently on the Lord for answers, remain peaceful and joyful. For instance, Hannah waited for years before she could have a child. She might have felt disappointed, but the Lord remembered her and made her joy complete.
Hannah's Prayer in 1 Samuel 2:1-10 reminds us that disappointments and the most bitter distress can lead to fulfillment and delight for those who wait patiently on the Lord. Therefore, as we take our matters to the Lord in prayers, we must have the fortitude to wait and trust God to deliver us.
May our patient endurance lead to rejoicing in whatever situations and circumstances we are waiting on answers from God. Remember, let us be patient and allow the Miracle Worker, Our Rock, Our Savior, and Redeemer to turn our anxiety into victory and celebration.
RECAP:
Patience is good for us—it is the key to our spiritual growth as Christians. When we stay calm in God's hands, under the shadow of his care and guidance, we know God will reward our patience with many good tidings and successful breakthroughs. Consequently, accepting God's timing will allow us to endure any trials or wrongdoings.
PRAYER:
Lord, please see us through the challenges of life. Please help us, Father God, not to be impatient and allow us to remember your promises. O God, please help us be forgiving and fill us with the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:28 says, “that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” May we leave this fellowship today with a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit. I pray this and more in Jesus's mighty name, Amen.
