When we think of showcasing God in our work and labor, we often think of doing things that reflect God’s character, being honest, and working as if we are serving the Lord. But have you ever considered that our work can also be a way to worship God? In Colossians 3:23-24, the Bible says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” This verse reminds us that our work should be done with excellence, as if we are doing it for God, not just for our bosses or for ourselves.
But what does it mean to work as if we serve the Lord? It means we approach our work with a heart of gratitude and a desire to honor God. We can do this by being kind to our coworkers, being respectful to our bosses, and being diligent in our work. When we work in this way, we are not just doing a job, but we are also living out our faith in a practical way. So, let’s remember that our work is not just a means to an end, but it is also an opportunity to worship God and showcase His character to those around us. Let’s approach our work with a heart of gratitude and honor God in all that we do. — Colossians 3:23-24
