Christ is all or not at all

What are the idols that beguile us in our society? What purpose, passion, person, position, place or possession could have the power to demand our attention and adoration? Our hearts are thrones. Who or what reigns there? It is possible to say we believe in Christ, and have something or someone on the throne of our hearts. We can even become active church members and be involved in social concerns, all while our lives remain in our control. We pray our prayers for Christ's help, but it is to get Him to help us accomplish our predetermined goals and plans. Our lives can be moral, honest, industrious and responsible, what is lacking is commitment to Christ as absolute Lord of our lives. An unconditional commitment to Christ opens the floodgates for His power and love to flow into the emptiness. Let us make Andrew Reed's Hymn our song for today!
"Holy Spirit all divine, Dwell within this heart of mine; Cast down every idol throne; Reign supreme and reign alone "
Christ is all or not at all.
