God is admittedly a jealous God. He cherishes His people's affections and will tolerate no rivals. God is not content to just be a priority in our lives. He wants to be THE PRIORITY. God demands our exclusive devotion. He does not abide by unfaithfulness or attitudes and habits that threaten His central place in our hearts. What is competing for God's central position in our lives? What do we see about ourselves and about the priority God is in our everyday life? In what ways are we investing in our relationship with our Lord? Are we busying ourselves in inconsequential activities and earthly pursuits? What keeps us from loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength? God wants our devotion. Fortunately, the Holy Spirit can grow that kind of love in our hearts. Let us ensure by prayer and devotion that our Heavenly Father is the central priority in our lives today and onwards. — Exodus 20: 3-5
