BRAVERY

When faced with big decisions, it is not unusual to be concerned about the consequences of the decision or fearful of failure. We need to remember that no one who has shown exceptional courage has been without fear. Franklin D. Roosevelt once made the famous statement that there is nothing to fear, but fear itself, because excessive fear may leave us paralyzed to take the faith steps God is calling us to make. When Moses sent out the 12 spies to explore the Promised Land, only Caleb and Joshua returned with positive reports, as the others were fearful of the giants that roamed the land. As a result, Caleb and Joshua were the only two from their generation to make it to the Promised Land (Numbers 13-14). What are the life giants making you fearful or worried? Remember, God tells us in Joshua 1:9, to be strong and courageous, not be afraid, and not be dismayed, for the Lord, our God is with us. Whatever the big decision is in our lives right now, let us be brave. Let us master our fears by turning to the Word of God and relying on God’s promises, never to leave us nor forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:8). Today let us take all our fears and anxieties to God in prayer. –Joshua 1:8-9
