Salvation is not an event; it is a process. Salvation is God’s gift, for there is nothing we can do to save ourselves (Ephesians 2:8-9). Once we have been saved, we must claim all that has become ours. Through salvation, God gave the victory over sin. That victory applies not only to past sins but also to every sin we shall ever commit. When we became Christians, God made us a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17). God wants to continually build new things into our lives as we walk with Him. God gave us His joy when He saved us and He wants to fill us with His joy daily. When we repented of our sins, we relinquished our right to our lives. God wants us to yield our will to Him and to follow His leading. When we are saved, God makes everything available to us. How we implement what He has given is our choice (2 Peter 1:3-9). We are to work diligently on our faith, with the awareness that only God can bring about lasting change in our lives. As we see God at work in us, let us be motivated to be even more diligent. Philippians 2:12-13
