As believers, we are born into a living hope, whereas people without Christ have no foundation for their expectations and desires. Many non-Christians live with a false sense of security. They assume that what is important in this life is the physical and material. But there is no safety in things (1 Timothy 6:9). Those who pursue wealth and health rather than God find that their dreams either go unfulfilled or fail to satisfy. As Christians we must anchor our hopes in the solid rock of Jesus Christ. His Words are always true. His promises are never broken. When we make requests and submit to the will of God we will always get answers. It can be: Yes; No; or Wait. The Lord does not disappoint those who seek His will.
We may feel temporary let down when something we hope for is not in God's plan. God does not go back on His promise to give us what is best (Isaiah 48:17; 64:4). When one door closes, there is another about to open with something better behind it. We must remember that our Lord cannot be out done. We cannot even wish ourselves much good as God has in store for us. The best choice we can make as Christians is to fix our hope on the Lord Jesus Christ. We have to welcome whatever fits His will for our lives, and turn away from all that does not. Circumstances may shift and change, but Jesus never does. He is our living hope who never disappoints. He is the hope that anchors our souls. 1 Peter 1:3-5
