God is our Refuge and Strength

I have often wondered how our prayers for help sound to God. Of course, it is impossible to know, but our assurance is that in our times of need, our loving God not only hears our cries, but He is also present with us. Psalm 46 describes times of great calamity, yet it is a song of trust that begins and ends with the same affirmation “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble” (Psalm 46:1). Our Heavenly Father is always at work accomplishing His purposes, even when the world seems to be falling apart. He tells us, “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be honored among the nations. I will be honored in the earth” (Psalm 46:10). We do not have to fear. When we call for help, we know that God hears and is always near. Let us remember that no need is too small to bring to God's attention because He is always there for us. He is our refuge and strength and our compassionate Father who comforts us. God's help is only a prayer away. — Psalm 46:1
