One of my favorite stories recorded in the New Testament is about the woman at the well’s encounter with Jesus. The core message of the story is found in one brief sentence: “But He had to go through Samaria”. Although the shortest route from Judea to Galilee cut through Samaria, most Jews chose another way. They avoided contact with the Samaritans. BUT NOT JESUS. His love compelled Him to go into Samaria, to wait by a well for a woman who was emotionally and spiritually parched. A woman who needed desperately the LIVING WATER! That same love compels Jesus to wait for each of us today. Even when we are oblivious of our need for time with Him, He is there, gently prodding us to confess our failures and sins as the Samaritan woman did. He is longing to heal us from our bruises and wounds. He is ready to reveal His presence and power. He is ready to extend the Living Water, to refresh us and quench our thirst. The question is, are we willing to meet with Him and receive all He desires to give us? At the beginning and at end of our day, let us imagine Jesus sitting and waiting for us to come by, so He can talk with us. Will our love for Him compel us to respond? — John 4:4
