God gave us His Word not merely for our information, but for our transformation. Our faith in the written Word of Scripture and the living Word of Jesus Christ opens our hearts to the work of the Holy Spirit, to teach us, as well as transform us. Are we making time for the life-giving Word of God? God gave us His Word to help us believe, as well as to enable us—by the power of His Spirit—to become the Christ like people He wants us to be. As we respond positively to the Scripture’s truth, the Spirit will use that truth to make us more like Christ. Has God’s Word been changing you? What is your motive for spending time studying Scripture, memorizing passages, and meditating on God’s truth? Is it as a duty? A habit? An obligation? Or is it an act of love? Let us consider the most fundamental question Jesus asks any one of us: “Do you love Me?” Everything in our relationship with Him stems from our honest answer to this question. Let us always think of that question anytime we open our Bible. If we sincerely love God, our relationship with God will be strong as He will come first in all we do. — John 20:31
