We sometimes have trouble looking ahead with hope because we keep looking back and mulling over past mistakes. Resulting in a dim outlook and dampened enthusiasm for the future. But there is no use “crying over spilled milk.” Nothing is gained by continually grieving over the past. Let us begin this New Year by confessing our sins to the Lord and accepting the gracious forgiveness He offers (1 John 1:9-10). Let us make right what needs correcting, and then, “forgetting those things which are behind,” press onward with confidence and trust in our Heavenly Father (Philippians 3:13-14). Let us stop looking back and brooding over past failures. Instead, with a forward outlook, let us move ahead with hope and joy. What past mistakes, events, grievances are you still holding on to? Confess them to God and accept His complete forgiveness (1 John 1:9). Instead of living in yesterday's shadows, why not walk in the light of today and the hope of tomorrow. When we do, our future will hold great promises! — Philippians 3:13-14
