God does not love us because we are of use to Him. The Bible states that God loved us first, even when we were still sinners (1 John 4:19; Romans 5:8). What could Almighty God need us to do that He could not do on His own? Yes, God chooses to use us, but God does not love us because we serve Him. Instead, God loves us because He places value on us. We are precious to God. But that love doesn't end there. The Bible tells us that “the command that Christ has given us is this: whoever loves God must love others also” (1 John 4:21). Hence, the most visible evidence that we are children of God is the love we extend to others. God is love (1 John 4: 16). If God overlooks our faults and loves us still, what stops us from bestowing that same relief to those we meet, those who are different from us, or those still on their Salvation/faith journey. When we abide in God, we will love others. — 1 John 4: 16-21
