Personal Statement from PAC Founder and CEO
Dr. T.O. Osemeikhian was born into a devout Christian family. Her father was a lay leader and preacher in the church. She grew up with a reverence for God and knowing the importance of regular church and Sunday school attendance. After successful completion of her studies, she returned to Nigeria, where she attained the esteemed position of president of a tertiary institution (one of the first women to do so). She was consecrated “Lady of St Mary’s” when her husband was knighted (Knight of St. Christopher) in recognition of his contributions to the growth and development of the Anglican Diocese in Nigeria. Consequentially, she was later knighted as “Knight of John Wesley” in recognition of her contributions to the growth, spread and development of the Methodist Church of Nigeria.
Upon completion of her tenure as a college president, she moved to the United States, to be closer to her children. Always known for her ‘go-getter’ attitude, she decided to get back into the classroom and motivate another generation of academic scholars. She also became more active in the church, volunteering in various ministries, and even becoming a Sunday school leader! Dr. Osemeikhian has a passion for doing God’s work, and has always sponsored various charitable causes and Christian missions over the years – either through sponsorship, or outright completion of the project, i.e. the building of several churches and worship centers in Nigeria.
After retiring from teaching, Dr. Osemeikhian felt the need to give back even more. She felt a calling to provide material and spiritual support through a charitable organization that would be available to anyone who needs help. That is how the Praise and Adoration Centre came about. To be a place of refuge; to assist, and to support those who are in need, and do it from the Christian mission – 1 John 3:17-18, Hebrews 13:16, Proverbs 11:25. Though PAC is still in its beginning stages, Dr. Osemeikhian and all those who are part of PAC, are praying and hoping that PAC will continue to grow and become “a ray of light and beacon of hope” for all those who set foot at its doors. Amen.
