The Zest of the World

We are to be zest for the world. This attribute is what Jesus meant when He told His disciples that they were to be the salt of the earth. Today, the accessibility and inexpensive nature of salt may cause some to underestimate the full extent of what Jesus was saying. Christians are to be the source of vitality in the world. Jesus calls His followers to outlove and outserve the whole world. An excellent way to deal with this challenge to be the earth's lively salt is to question, Do I want the entire world to be like me? Have I found an exciting, adventuresome faith that I want everyone to have? Who would want to know Christ because of what he/she sees in me? The world around us is deciding whether to take Christ seriously because of what people see in us. We, as Christians (Christ-followers), should be the salt to a tasteless world. — Matthew 5:13; Mark 9:50; Luke 14:34,35
